Play Hidden T-Rex game in offline Chrome

Google Chrome is an awesome web browser that I just absolutely love to use. Except for the fact that it is a memory hog (pretty much like almost any other browser with features these days), almost everything else has to go in favor of Google Chrome. But there are tricks up its sleeve as well. How many of you knew that there is a hidden T-Rex game in Google Chrome that you can play only when your are offline?

Note: You can play the Hidden T-Rex game online here.

How do you play the Hidden T-Rex game?

Here’s a sample shot of the hidden T-Rex game in offline Chrome Source: omgchrome

On the face of it, it is a simple game that has a hidden T-RexΒ with a 8 bit look jump over fences to score points. It’s endless because the levels are dynamically generated by the JavaScript that runs it. The code is released by the Chromium Project and you can check it out simply by clicking on the view source of the page.

So there’s pretty much only one way to play it directly – go offline and play as long as you wish to. Best thing is that it works perfectly on mobile devices as well. This also goes for tablet devices. It does feel rather odd to play this hidden T-Rex game on such devices, but who cares when you can have some fun even when you are offline!

In Google Chrome itself, you can easily check the code of the entire project, make tweaks and create a fork of it if you wish to, with certain limitations. It has been launched using a BSD license. The restrictions are minimal, but you can check them out here.

So enjoy the game even when your are offline, the hidden T-Rex game might still save the day.

Share this post if you have enjoyed as much as I did writing. Thanks. πŸ™‚

  • A game similar to the pictures and look better –
Press “Space” or “arrow” to jump your Dino and start the game.

  • Child of God

You don’t need to go offline. Go to chrome://dino . Simple as that

    • True, but it shows an ugly ‘No Internet Connection’ text that remains a distraction. πŸ˜€

      • Child of God

Either way you get the ugly text. Unless you go to an app or webpage that has it, like the one Arun suggested

Welcome to Google Chrome Dinosaur Game

Step 1: Right click on the dinosaur and select inspect element. (You need JavaScript codes to change it).

Step 2: Click on console on the top tabs.
          Here is a preview –
Do click on the image for a better view.

Step 3: Type in the following JavaScript codes:

          Protoype code: “Runner.prototype.gameOver=function (){console.log}“

This code above will make your dinosaur go through all the obstacles and never die.

          “Runner.instance_.setSpeed([number of speed)“
          Provided code – “Runner.instance_.setSpeed(1000)“

This code will make your dinosaur move very fast.

After putting those in, exit inspect element and click the space bar to start you game!!
