The Code Post is a Digital Marketing think tank and web applications provider. Services include web designing, application testing and development, content writing, blogging, SEO, domain registrations, web hosting etc.

But, companies are made of people. So let’s begin with me.

Introduction

I am Sarthak Ganguly. Born into a loving family in Kolkata, India, I never thought of going into technology till I was in my sixth standard. I was about 11 years old then.

Our first Personal Computer

I will include a better picture from my archives when I can. But this is how it looked like.

My dad was the first computer enthusiast I met. Overriding the concerns of my mother, he spent Rs. 55000 in the year 2000 and bought a HCL Busybee. It had a 500 MHz Intel Pentium III processor, 32 MB (later upgraded to 64 MB) of memory, a 5 GB Hard drive, a CD ROM drive, a standard 3.25 inch floppy drive. It came with a number of goodies. We got speakers, a microphone, a printer along with a UPS and neat computer table to house it all. The price was all inclusive, I think. It ran original Windows 98 SE.

Right from the beginning, I was blown away by the way it worked. I sometimes used to go to my Dad’s workplace and knew what computers were. In fact I used to play a few games before, but that was about it. The fact that computers could create beautiful word documents, powerpoint presentations, manage databases, create webpages AND have games was amazing.

Getting introduced to programming

My Dad was my first teacher. I went through the DOS commands and started practising them. That was the beginning. I wrote a book using MS Word and started making Powerpoint presentations and picture postcards. My dad trained me on HTML first. I was first introduced to the world of design. I was introduced to (now legacy) FoxPro.

We did not have an internet connection at home. But making websites was what I loved to do. So, we had these CHIP magazines. Their CDs had games and other tools. But they also had some offline website content. Back in the day, such content was common. I would then use either Notepad to edit its source or play with the content using Frontpage.

Graduation – BTech, TCP starts

Time flew and I took computers as my additional subject for my High School and passed out in 2007. Then I did my graduation in Computer Science and Engineering from Dr. B.C.Roy Engineering College, Durgapur. I passed out in 2011. I joined iGate Patni next and started this blog. That was how The Code Post started.

I was not very serious in the beginning. It was mostly as a hobby. But I kept learning and doing freelancing on the side. Time was always a constraint as I was also preparing for GATE as I wanted to do my masters.

Post Graduation @ IITB

I left my job in 2015 and started my Master of Technology program in IIT Bombay and shifted from Bangalore to Mumbai. The course for Technology and Development was pretty rigorous and I did not get much time to invest in my blogs.

I completed my post graduation in 2017 and joined a Securities firm in the IT Project Delivery role.

It was during this time that I was able to blog seriously and create quality content. The major issue I have is that the quality of the older posts needs an improvement urgently. In the meantime, I monetized my blog so that I could pay for the expenses of hosting etc. Things are looking up.

A programming aficionado, Sarthak spends most of his time programming or computing. He loved gaming. Loved means he has reduced gaming to ridiculous levels. He has been programming since his sixth grade. Now he has two websites in his name and is busy writing two books. Apart from programming, he likes reading books, hanging out with friends, watching movies and planning wartime strategies.
